A proposal for researchers: statistical and methodological support

It is not always clear what to do with the data

Uncertainty

You have collected the data. Or almost collected it. Or already collected it but don't know which statistical method fits your particular study design. Or you know the method but aren't sure you are interpreting the result correctly. Or everything is calculated, but the reviewer returned the article with comments on the statistics.

This is not an isolated problem — it is systemic

Statistics is taught little in medical schools and, in practice, almost not at all. A scientific supervisor cannot always help specifically with data analysis. And the cost of an error is high: a reworked dissertation, a rejected article, lost time.

NIAEM offers researchers postgraduate students, residents, physicians, and early-career researchersprofessional statistical and methodological support. Not abstract consultations, but a concrete result: tables, charts, interpretation, and readiness to respond to a reviewer.

What is holding researchers back right now?

01

A method without understanding

The statistical method is chosen at random or "like everyone else in similar articles" — without understanding whether it suits the specific data and design.

02

Language barrier

The results are calculated, but it is unclear how to describe them: what is significant, what is not, and how to phrase it in the language of medical science rather than statistics.

03

Unclear revisions

The reviewer returns the article with comments on the analysis methods — and it is unclear how to respond and what to redo.

04

Raw data

The data is collected but messy: duplicates, missing values, inconsistencies with inclusion criteria — and it is unclear how to fix this before analysis.

05

Lack of confidence in the design and protocol

A study is being planned, but there is no confidence in the design and protocol — and it is daunting to begin data collection without knowing whether anything will come of it.

Data analysis: choose the level for your task

  1. 01

    Basic level

Standard parametric and nonparametric methods. Suitable for most dissertation studies with a classical design.

  2. 02

    Extended level

Regression analysis: linear, logistic, Poisson, ordinal, and other models. Survival analysis. Suitable for studies with multiple predictors, time-to-event outcomes, and comorbid populations.

  3. 03

    Advanced level

Bayesian approach and machine learning methods. Suitable for complex analytical tasks, non-standard designs, and work at the intersection of clinical medicine and data science.

What is included at any level

All work is performed strictly on the basis of the terms of reference (ToR) from the client, in compliance with the principles of reproducibility and transparency of statistical analysis.

  • Preparation of final tables and charts taking into account all necessary statistical corrections

  • Statistical interpretation of results

  • Responses to questions from the scientific supervisor

  • Responses to reviewers' comments

Additional options

Any expansion of scope and additional calculations are discussed individually after reviewing the ToR.

  • Clinical interpretation of results

Formulation of conclusions in Russian medical language understandable to a physician, not only a statistician. A surcharge coefficient applies to the cost.

  • Expedited completion

Priority processing: up to 1 month for articles, up to 2 months for dissertations. A surcharge coefficient applies to the cost.

  1. 01

Development of the study methodology and protocol

From framing the question and choosing the design to a final document ready for registration or defense at the department. It is especially important to do this before data collection begins — reworking the protocol after the fact is significantly more difficult and costly.

  2. 02

    Data validation and data management

Cleaning the database, coding variables, and checking compliance with inclusion and exclusion criteria. This is not technical formalism — messy data produces unreliable results that the reviewer will notice.

  3. 03

    Consultations

Brief consultations of up to 2 hours on specific statistical or methodological questions. Suitable when the task is targeted and does not require full support.

  4. 04

Preparation and statistical support of scientific articles

Help in writing the "Methods" and "Results" sections, adaptation to the requirements of a specific journal, and support during the review process. If our expert's contribution meets the ICMJE authorship criteria, they are listed as a co-author of the publication.

  5. 05

    Study registration

If needed — registration of your study on CLINICALSTUDY.ru with the assignment of an official public number. This strengthens your position when submitting to a journal and raises the academic status of the work.

Important: how to get started

Terms of reference

To launch a project, terms of reference are required — a document that clearly states the study objective, the volume and structure of the data, the desired analysis methods, and the format of the results.

If you don't have terms of reference yet, we will help you draft them during a consultation

Without terms of reference, we do not start the work

This protects both you and us: that way the result becomes predictable, rather than "let's see what comes out."

Our experience

NIAEM is a community of experts in evidence-based medicine, clinical studies, and biostatistics

We work with leading medical universities — Samara State Medical University (SamSMU), Kursk State Medical University (KSMU), and M. Gorky Donetsk State Medical University (DonSMU) — as well as pharmaceutical companies and clinics, and we understand the specifics of medical data, the requirements of Russian and international journals, and the logic of the review process.

Publications on methodology have been prepared

With a high citation index.

Studies registered on CLINICALSTUDY.ru

Seminars on biostatistics and evidence-based medicine have been held for postgraduate students and faculty of leading medical schools.

Write to us — we will prepare a preliminary concept for your task. The cost is calculated individually after understanding the terms of reference. The initial consultation is free.
