The aim of the study was to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of radiographic imaging for acute Achilles tendon rupture by comparing radiographs of patients who underwent surgery for Achilles tendon rupture with healthy patients without Achilles tendon injury.

Criteria

Inclusion criteria

  • the presence of a clinically confirmed diagnosis of a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon that occurred and was diagnosed no later than 14 days after the injury,
  • age over 18 years,
  • an X-ray of the damaged ankle joint in the frontal and lateral projections,
  • and surgical treatment of the tendon rupture

Exclusion criteria

concomitant acute injury to the ankle joint and foot, injury duration exceeding two weeks, lack of radiographs of the injured ankle joint in direct and lateral projections, age under 18.
